May 3rd storms devastate Chickasaw

Collage trees before after.jpg

On May 3rd, heavy winds caused massive trees to fall over all of Chickasaw. It appeared that the trail would not be rideable for weeks. However, several volunteers went to work right away and cleared it in four days. HUGE thanks to Jonathan Johnston, Maranda and Joey Paterniti, Emily and Richard Ferguson, Shane and Mac Wilson, Rick Harris, Tim Hoeldtke, Mark Gendrolis, Warren from Spring Hill, Vic Beck, Aaron Bigger, Michael Erdman, Jim Ribeiro and Ben Varela.

Donation request for bridges and Aaron Bigger

We have committed to building a 68’ rolling bridge across a muddy section of the new trail we have been building. And we need to do something with the deteriorating bridge on the River Trail as well. Donor’s names will be etched onto the structure as well as those who help build it.

A second fund has been set up to reimburse Aaron Bigger for general expenses he has incurred, such as saw blades, and just reward him a little extra. He has worked hundreds of hours by himself making these new trails and features. To donate, please see the donation link at https://columbiacycling.clubexpress.com

Sunday work continues

We have completed the new trail and we are now riding down the Coasters! Sunday work days are continuing 2:00-4:00 because we are continuing to add jumps, build bank turns to improve the flow, and pick up landfill trash at the new spots. Come join us! We park at the NICA Exit. Take the dirt road leading to the airfield, but turn left where you see a trail meeting the road, and follow the trail across the field.

More trails at Chickasaw! Come help!

Big announcement! 13 CCC members met to view an idea for a new trail that would add fun features and culminate in going down the Coasters rather than up. There was an enthusiastic vote in favor and work began Sunday with nine people building 350 feet. Aaron Bigger is taking a vacation day tomorrow (Wednesday) and working on it. James Sanford is helping. If you are available, please consider pitching in.
The group decided to make each Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 a time for all available hands to pitch in until it is done. Park at the NICA exit. The trail begins near the jump ramp.
